Greek Electropop/Synthwave duo Marva Von Theo have released their Debut Album, Dream within a Dream via the brand new sublabel Shades of Sound / Wave Records and soon it will be available in Limited Edition Vinyl ( Black & Trans Violet).
The 12 songs in MVT’s Album, lean towards dark electropop music, incorporating a variety of influences ranging from the music of the 80’s until today, but at the same time introducing a distinct, personal aesthetic and a modern, genre-neutral sound. Darkwave colors, Jazz harmonies, Rock and Dance drum beats resonate together and mature into something darkly romantic. The vocals weave this electronic veil with soul, trip-hop and pop textures, retaining an inner tension that seduces the listener and drifts him along in a sentimental, melancholic trip inside the personal stories that are concealed in the lyrics.
The passion of Marva Von Theo for experimentation is evident in their compositions, seeking a way to surpass the identification or imitation of one specific genre and offer the listener the opportunity to feel and interpret their music differently upon every listen. Like a song within a song, like a Dream within a Dream

“MVT is in that edgy tribe which develops musical and artistic novelties and who are not afraid at all to blend their songs with various elements away from the old-school and the previous dogmas. […] they are the modern synthwave pioneers among a handful of others too who simply and so proudly release the one anthemic album after the other”
Mike D. | The Record Stache, Florida (US)
“At times darksome and dancey (Secret Lover/ Perfect Sync), but mostly introspective, gripping and moony (Unconcern / What Is It About You Me That You Love / Silk). From darkwave (Somebody New) to twilight electro pop (Fame And Gold / Reaching The Stars) Overall a multi-layered work of innovative and compelling songwriting blessed with Marva Voulgari‘ impressive vox. “
Turn Up the Volume (Belgium)
“The least I can say is that this duo doesn’t deal with a cheap emulation of an electronic established music style and/or band.(…) It’s an intimate approach revealing the beautiful and sometimes sensual vocals of Marva mixed with a modest sonic composition.”
Stéphane Froidcoeur | Side-Line Magazine (Belgium)
“The track “Dead in Berlin” has a pensive air, as if straight out of a classic movie, as Marva Voulgari and Theo Foinidis uncoil string inspired synths that lead the song to work its way beat by beat, moment by moment to an uncertain resolution; morally ambiguous but very captivating.”
Mark Buckley | Electronic North (UK)
“When listening to Dream Within A Dream, there is this sense of hopefulness buried within the darkness and foreboding themes that run throughout each of the tracks. With Voulgari’s jazzy, bluesy vocals, it is hard not to feel like you are falling into an endless void, but in a good way. “
Aaron Mannari | Lemonade Magazine (Seattle, US)
“This newest song, Dead in Berlin is slow and textured, bringing wave forward and allowing the listener to soak in the sonic-lines that we can hear, whipping through vintage and modern synth sounds. It’s as if you can visually follow the synth zaps. Piercing and painful vocals top this cake off…”
Synthpop Sound (New Orleans, US)
“A voz seduz-nos, a música é cativante, o todo conseguindo criar uma atmosfera particular que nos envolve.”
Nuno Almeida | Projecto Cellophane (Portugal)
“If this is the future of synthwave, I want more of it.”
